A lot more goes into launching Santa's Seligh than most people think. Mission control is manned by highly skilled elves to assure that conditions are just right for lift-off.
And of course the big man in the suit sometimes needs to be reminded where to take off. This is one of the most dangerous positions an elf can take. They must have extreme ducking skills, because those hooves hurt.
