Day 15: The North Pole

A plane passes over on of the most famous nonexistent landmarks of all time, the North Pole. Seriously, why doesn't someone just stick a red and white pole in the artic and be done with it? Or maybe someone already has, I don't know. Anyway, I am done with exams now!!!

Day 14: Frosty the Snowman

Even snowmen have to look both ways before crossing the street. Yes, this is a redux of a model from last year. I was running out of ideas for today. I figured that if Hollywood can remake old stuff when they're out of ideas, so can I!

Day 13: Toy Solider

Sorry for the late post! I was taking pictures somewhere else yesterday and used up my camera's batteries! So here is a toy solider for all of you. It was originally supposed to be a nut-cracker but that didn't work out in the end.

Day 12: Robotic Reindeer

Or squirrel, or raccoon, or fox. Whatever... I don't really know

So this kicks off the first day of exam week mini models. I didn't really have much time to build today's model. It was supposed to be a reindeer but it looks like something else. Oh well! And the only reason it's robotic is because of the claws for antlers, and that blank face it has. I couldn't get a good face at the small of a scale...

Day 11: Santa Clause Lane

Because candy cane street lamps are boss!

Just a quick little model to begin the week with. This week is exam week, so you know what that means... Wait, you don't? Well, it means a lot of mini models!!!

Day 10: Penguins!

The Intrepid Explorer has come across some penguins.
Penguins are delightful animals to watch. Even the most renowned explorer of all time pauses to marvel at these flightless birds!
The one in the front thinks he's Will.I.Am... One certainly sees strange things when wandering around the North Pole!

Day 9: A Christmas Tale: Part 1

Meet Joseph Edward Groude, CEO of FineThreads©

You might remember him from last year as "Homeless Joe". Well, a lot has changed since Minifig Max helped him out that Christmas season.

Joseph has gone a long way from being a hobo on the street. However, one thing hasn't seemed to change. People are still afraid to be anywhere near him!

It all started when Joseph decided to start his own business. Remembering his love for good clothes, he was inspired to create his own clothing factory, which he called FineThreads©.

Business was great, and FineThreads© was very successful. However, Joseph dealt poorly with his sudden success. He became greedy, and eventually was only concerned with making more and more money.

This is Tom Baggin. He is currently working at FineThreads© to earn a little extra cash for the holidays.

A few weeks before Black Friday, some of the machines in the factory broke down. While the company is ordering and installing replacements, several new people have been hired to do the machine's tasks manually. Tom and these other two people are assigned with the task of sewing the size tags on the back of each shirt.

Unfortunately, the mind-numbering task of sewing size tags in a dimly lit room isn't the worst part of this job...

Tom: "Hey Mr.Groude, could I please have Christmas off this year? My nephew is traveling all the way from Canada to come visit, and I want to spend some time with him."

Mr. Groude: "Christmas off!?! Do you have any idea how far behind schedule that will put us!? I'm trying to run a business, and you want to take vacations! Soon you'll be asking for New Years off!"

Joseph Edward Groude dosn't have many friends. As soon as he comes home from work, he goes and sits in his creepy mansion all night.

One night, while sitting in said mansion, he receives a phone call...

"Hello, who is this?"

"It's your old friend Minifig Max! Remember me? Listen, I'm kinda concerned about you. You don't seem as happy as you used to be. I'm going to Colorado for Christmas this year, so instead of coming over myself, I'm gonna send three friends of mine to check up on you! I just wanted to let you know you would have visitors soon. I gotta catch my flight now, bye!"

"O.k., bye..."
"Sheesh, now I have visitors comeing. Can't I just be left alone for a change?"

To be continued next week...

Hope you guys enjoyed the first part of our Christmas Tale. After all the corner-cutting I had to do last week it's nice to finally be able to make something I can be proud of. Anyway, I'll see you all tomorrow!

Day 8: Flash Mob Gone Wrong

Day 7: Hallelujah!

"O.k. dude, that's seriously that lamest costume ever!"

So yes, one exam is out of the way! Didn't have much time to build today because of the exam.

Day 6: I'm Dreaming of a Blue Christmas...

Yeah, the weather's been pretty depressing around here.

Just a few less degrees and it could be snowing!

Day 5: Winter Monster

The Yeti has eaten an exceptionally large allotment of raw flesh today, and is settling down for a long winter's nap; which provides the perfect opportunity for George here to make his getaway.

So yeah, this was Monday's model. My camera died on me so we will have to wait one more day for the rest of the pictures to be uploaded. The good news is that some of my exams are out of the way. Angels are singing the hallelujah chorus in my head right about now! BTW, that's a hint as to what today's model was. See you tomorrow!

*Update*

Just a quick update, I am well aware that I have not posted my model for yesterday or today. I have an important test tomorrow that I have been studding for, and while I have built the two models, I have not had time to upload them. I will post them both, along with tomorrow's model tomorrow. Hopefully I will get back on track with my uploading after tomorrow...

Day 4: Winter Walk

Just the fruits of some late-night building. It's pretty easy to lose track of time when you are desperately trying to come up with ideas for a Lego model. Any Lego builder should know that!

Anyway, I should better get some sleep now. Why did I have to wait until a school night to run out of ideas?

Day 3: Decoration Mayhem

Christmas decorating is always a hassle for elves. It's not easy hanging up lights when you're the size of an eight-year-old. It's amazing the extreme measures some elves will go to just to avoid getting out the ole' ladder.

It appears that one elf is attempting to fly a homemade jetpack...

...while the other one operates this...uh... thing. Dang, I built it and I don't even know what it is.

It happens every year. All the machines and contraptions must eventually fall to the mighty ladder... Maybe next year an invention will succeed.

So yeah, no amazing work of art yet. I was just having some fun with this one. I started a project for this blog today, but it will have to wait until later. Anyway, here is a sneak peek of what is yet to come...

Guess who's coming back!

Day 2: *Head-Desk*

Sorry for the cheap and totally lame excuse for a model today. I am taking the SAT tomorrow, so I need to do some studying and then get some sleep. I'm sure most of you should understand with finals also approaching. Anyway, I should be back with some more quality content tomorrow.

Day 1: I'm Back!

Welcome to Year 2 of The Advent Project. For all of you new people, The Advent Project is where I post a Christmas themed Lego model every day of December until Christmas. Some models are big, some are small, but they are all winter themed. I would encourage you to take a look at all of the previous posts. They are all from last year.

I actually had second thoughts about doing this again this year. Still, I had the feeling that if I didn't do it, half-way through December I would regret it, so I went ahead and started. I'm glad I did. I was looking through all of last year's posts, and I instantly got nostalgic.

So thats the main reason I decided to make this particular Vignette. This guy was one of the most common minifigs from last year. Here we have the Intrepid Explorer beginning another expedition. It's funny how this one particular minifig has become such a character here on the blog. I can't wait to make more scenes with him.

I decided to give him a new outfit as well to commemorate the second year of the blog. I really like how it turned out. Most of you probably don't care if he has a different shirt on, but that's fine.

So unlike last year, I really have no idea what I'm going to build next. Last year I wrote down a bunch of general ideas to build, but I have done absolutely zero planning this year :P Oh well, I think I'll survive anyway...

Anyway, I love how I was just able to talk my way through six pictures of this one model. I just couldn't bring myself to delete one of my shots. That's another thing that should be better this year. I am a better photographer than I was last year. I should have a new camera coming in soon, hopefully in time to photographize some Lego Christmas models.

Ok, who am I kidding, "photographize" isn't a word, but it sounds a whole lot cooler that "photograph" or "to take a picture". I think I just invented a new word!

Well that wraps up my first post of the year. Again, I am very exited to be doing this again, so stay tuned for more posts, festivity, and "photographized" Legos!
