Day 25: Recap

So today was Chrsitmas!!! Christmas was great this year, as always. This year was special because it was my first White Christmas! My original plan for this last post was to make a model out of the Lego sets I got today, but to my surprise I didn't get any Lego sets! So instead, I am going to post some of the most notable characters featured in The Advent Project this year. So lets go one layer at a time and see the cast of this year's blog.

Here is my Sig-Fig with the micro snowman.

Here is the Kid-In-His-Pajamas and Dobby!

Now lets give it up for the elves!!!

Here is Homeless Joe, Minifig Max, Intrepid Explorer, and the Dad.

Here are the Clone Troopers, the Soldier-Guy-Who-Got-A-Letter, and the Jingle-belling Darth Vader.

Here is a final shot of the cast. Without them the Advent Project would not be possible, so give them a round of applause, even if they are plastic.

So with no followers, and no comments that means The Advent Project failed, right? Wrong! I have learned a lot from these 25 days of building and have had a lot of fun. It is a great way to celebrate Chrsitmas and I will definately be doing this again next year. I will also work harder to get more publicity for this blog, and to post my MOCs at a better time. Until next year,

Buzz Droid

Day 24: The True Meaning: Part 4

Its the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a creature is stirring
Except for my brother

Merry Christmas!!!

To see what exactly goes into making a Lego vignette, check out this behind the scenes special!!!

Day 23: The End of an Expidition

Our Intrepid Explorer has finally found Santa's workshop, and come face to face with elf-kind. However, the place they met was very awkward, causing the Intrepid Explorer to turn back and head home. The secrets of Santa'a workshop still remain a mystery...

Day 23: Shrubbery Switchage

People have Christmas trees. Who says you can't have a Christmas bush? This is most definitely a very desperate minifig. That is what you get for delaying your Christmas shopping.

So today I was planning a huge, magnificent Vig featuring this car, but I looked over at the clock and noticed it was midnight. So I put together this thing really quick and will probably finish the rest of the build after The Advent Project is done. I can't believe it is almost over. I have had a lot of fun doing this.

And by the way, my grandparents once had a Christmas cactus.

Day 21- Christmas in the Trenches

Even Clone Troopers need a Christmas break, which is hard to do in the middle of a Galactic war. Still, they somehow manage. Most Clone Troopers will be spending their Christmas in their barracks, but here in this deserted wasteland, the trenches are their barracks.

Celebrateing Christmas while blasting droids away may not be the best way to spend Christmas, but here on this uncarted wasteland, its your only option.

Don't you love the smell of charred dirt in the morning?

So this is my comeback after 2 days of some rather sloppy building. This was also made for the "Star Wars Lego Creations Christmas Contest" over at Mocpages.

Day 20: The Victorious Verdict

After a long trial, the elves were recently granted acess over Russian airspace on the night of December 24th due to the "Santa Clause".

Here is my quick courtroom setup. I did this all very quickly so please don't nitpick it the prosecution is on the wrong side or something.

Here is the balif with his Bible and stick. He has a pretty cool job.

Here is the judge with his hammer thing. I know the hammer looks out of place, but it's all I could find.

Here are the Russian bureaucrat who just lost their case. Now these "scrouges" can't stop Christmas and rob all the little children the joy of trashing their houses with wrapping paper. Poor lawyers :(

So today was definately a last minute build, because I just got back from a family reunion. And if you noticed that the pictures are a little bit blurrier than normal, it is because the part of my camera that my tripod screws into just broke. Bummer! I guess I'll have to got back to useing old books to prop my camera.

Day 19: Secret Santa

Minifig Max has invited Homeless Joe to spend Christmas with him, and it looks like Santa has been here already!

Sorry for the short post. I am leaving for a family reunion and will be gone for the rest of the day.

Day 18: Letters from War

This is a vig that I have been thinking about for a long time, and now I have finally built it. I came up with the idea for this Vig after listening to a song that most of you would make fun of me for listening too, so lets just say it rhymes with "Gorilla Skylight". Yeah, I just totally gave it away. Oh well!

Here is the woman writing a letter. I'm mainily making use of the Clone Trooper headlight peice here.

Here is our happy letter-receiver. My goal here was to make him overjoyed, and make him stand out from the normal soilders in the background. This MOC was largely inspired by this MOC by Shannon Ocean. I am definately not as anti-war as he is, but I love how well played his Vig was. Lego is a good medium of art.

Day 17: Salvation Army

What would Christmas be like without hearing those annoying jingle bells every time you try to do your Christmas shopping? O.K., I don't really think the bells are that annoying. Anyway, now your Lego people can volunteer during the holiday season.

I hope you enjoyed the past 3 posts that were supposed to be entries to the BCN Advent Contest. I am rather disappointed that I missed the deadline, because I think I had a good chance of winning something. Oh well, maybe I'll get a Lego Santa minifig next year...

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Day 16: Snowball Fight

This was my second would-be entry to the BCN Christmas contest. It includes a snowman, which is always a challenge for Lego builders at this time of year. This one was made with the official Lego Advent Calenders in mind. I thought it would be fun if you could actually be part of the snowball fight, hence the flick-fire missles. Now you can bully you Lego minifigs by knocking down their snowmen!

Day 15: Mini Hogwarts

It's Christmas morning and little Jimmy got the best Christmas present he could possibly ask for: Lego Hogwarts Castle!!! That is totally what I would ask for if my parents had an extra $120 to spend on me. Jimmy also got Hagid's hut. Do you like the mini Aragog?

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Day 14: Mini Winter Wonderland

So exam season is finally upon me. This is definitely a very small build, but I think it's one of the most innovative I've done so far. Hurray for microscale!!!

For the next three days I will be posting what would have been my entries to the Brick Comic Network's Christmas Contest (I accidentally missed the deadline). Now I better start studying again!

Monday, December 13, 2010

Day 13: Christmas Cookies!!!

"Dang it, 82 ounces! I need to lose some weight!"

One of the most common side effects of devouring peppermint and watching Christmas movies all day. Its worth it though. Right?

Day 12: The True Meaning Part 2

Minifig Max has decided to take this needy man out to do a little shopping. There are lots of good items to choose from, but I think Homeless Joe just found his style!

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Day 11: A Licensed Christmas: Villains

The villains of the silver screen have decided to take advantge of a month long truce to celebrate Christmas like every other person in the galaxy. Villains are people too you know!

Darth Vader has discovered that jingle bells are incredible addictive. Maybe he should join the salvation army.

Lotso is drinking hot cocoa while playing with his new dump truck. Isn't it ironic that a toy is playing with a toy? I wonder if the dump truck comes to life when Lotso is away.

The bad guys have prepared a magnificent feast for Christmas this year. Lucius Malfoy is eying that chicken leg suspiciously. It looks like it could have come from one of his pet peacocks. Don't you hate it when evil overlords take over your house?

Here is the Chrismas tree. Since the Malfoys are a pure-blooded family, they like to keep century long traditions, hence the house elf head topping the tree. As you can see, the only thing under this tree is coal. Oh well, at least they will be warm this winter.

And here is a picture of my microscale dump truck. I seem to be doing a lot of microscale in this project. This definitely isn't the best I've done, but I like it anyway.

Day 10: A Licensed Christmas: Heroes

In light of the Christmas season, heroes and villains from across the silver screen have started a month-long truce in which they can celebrate the holidays.

Yoda decided to go all out with his elf costume this year. It's all in the ears.

Harry is using his magic wand to light some candles. Naughty Harry! You shouldn't be using magic outside of school. Coal for you!!!

Woody is having a blast playing with a toy soldier and a toy cannon. Get it, "blast"? Ha Ha Ha! O.K., enough bad puns.

Anakin is using the force to levitate his mistletoe in hopes that 2011 will bring a new Padme' minifig. We haven't had one of those in almost ten years!

Here is the Vig without the minifigs and floating mistletoe. You can see that Santa has left a gift for each of our heroes. There is also a radio playing Celestina Warbeck. That is probably why none of the Weasleys are present. Get it, pres-- sorry, I promised no more bad puns.

Here is a picture of my miniature toy solider with his cannon. Indecently, I want a cannon for Christmas too, but it's the kind you take pictures with. That doesn't count as a pun!

Day 9: Arctic Expedition

Our intrepid explorer continues to search for Santa's workshop across the North Pole. It looks like he has found something. An elf skiing into a frozen pond: that's not something you see every day!

Here is a close up of our intrepid explorer. Looks very intrepid, doesn't he?

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Day 8: Santa's Sleigh

So here it is: Santa's Sleigh. It is being test-driven by an elf of course(I don't have a Santa minifig. Santa's sleigh has always been a challenge for me, and unfortunately I didn't have a whole lot of time to work on this.

Now remember the reindeer I build on Monday? Well it needs to connect to the sleigh, so luckily we have a hardness to do just that.

Here is the sleigh being pushed by Gary. I have always wanted to make a sleigh that had all 11 reindeer (including Gary and Rudolf), but I have never had the parts. Maybe someday...

And here is the whole motley crew for the three-day sub theme. There is also a mechanic elf. He was going to get his own model, but there weren't enough days in the month for him. Maybe next year...

So sorry for the bad quality of pictures. I am lucky that I actually got them posted. They will hopefully resume to their normal quality tomorrow.

Day 7: Mission Control

A lot more goes into launching Santa's Seligh than most people think. Mission control is manned by highly skilled elves to assure that conditions are just right for lift-off.

And of course the big man in the suit sometimes needs to be reminded where to take off. This is one of the most dangerous positions an elf can take. They must have extreme ducking skills, because those hooves hurt.

Sorry for the small models today. Tomorrow will most likely be the same way. Speaking of tomorrow, so far we have had a reindeer, a mission control center, and a runway, so what do you think is going to be next?
